With Spring in the air many people have asked about wearing their summer uniforms rather than heavy kilts and long trousers. This was discussed at the staff meeting on Monday, and it was agreed that summer uniforms can be worn providing that it is a complete summer uniform. If it is colder and polyprops or merino is worn underneath, it is not to be seen. Please check the school website if you are unsure of what is acceptable.
Most Room 4 girls have their hair neatly tied back - just a reminder that hair needs to be tied up for school. There is also the odd person wearing nail polish. Please enjoy those fancy nails at the weekend, and just wear a clear polish for school if any.

Week 6 Term 3
Hard to believe that the term is on the downward slide with only 4 weeks left to fit so much in.
Welcome back Padraig - we have missed you, but I'm sure that you have enjoyed a summer holiday with family in Ireland.
Tomorrow Tuesday 3rd the whole school will be attending a "Magic Show" put on by scientists whom Angela has invited to the area. Parents are welcome to attend this in the hall from 1:45 - 2:45.
Swimming - Tuesdays & Fridays: Thank you Dale for offering to transport 7 to the pool tomorrow, Trina and myself can take 4 each, so we'll need to take a couple of trips. If anyone else is able to assist, I would be very grateful. The timing of these lessons really eats into the core subjects of reading and maths, so travelling by car minimises this disruption. School tracksuits can be worn on these days with school sports uniforms underneath if people wish to take the tops and trousers off during the day - no mufti underneath.
Does anyone have Pyper's tracksuit pants? she thinks that she dropped them after the school cross country. They are the trousers from one of the Bodkin's tracksuits - please check that you don't have two pairs.
Camp Books: need to be at school as we are working in them - they can be taken home after our WOW night.
Eisteddfod Speeches: will be heard on Monday 23rd September. Our writing topic starting next week is speech writing, so think about the topic that you would like to speak about. Remember to consider what will be interesting to Room 4 who is the audience.
Maths Buddy: we have a free trial for everyone for the next 4 weeks or so. Then the cost of $7 for term 4 until 31st January. Log ins and passwords are in homework books.
Monthly tables test = Friday practice sheets in homework books.

Ski Camp - Assembly this week
Wow, what a fantastic week. It was amazing to see how quickly everyone progressed, with having lessons and time to practise new skills 3 days in a row. I'm sure that after everyone had a good night's sleep you will have heard how Coronet Peak was 'conquered'.
Thank you so much to all the parents who assisted with supervision and had a ball in doing so, to Mary and Robyn who had the kitchen under control with lots of hot nutritious food for all and to everyone who was so generous with their donations of food and baking.
At present we are all working on presentations using photos taken during the week. Some of these will be shared with the school on Thursday at assembly - 2:10pm.
At the beginning of next term we'll have a WOW night - perhaps a fish'n'chips tea and everyone will have an opportunity to share their highlights of the trip. This term we now need to support the making of the float. 7pm each night at Scott Base (the end of Ellis St - off Boundary Rd.)
Some people have indicated that they may want to join the Vincent Ski Club, so that you can take your families to stay in the hut - if this is you I can give you contact people.

Ski Camp
Room 4 are having an amazing time at Coronet Peak! The year 6 children head home today after a great 3 days and the year 5 children have arrived today for their first day of camp! Here they are taking a break this afternoon to escape the snow that is now falling outside!

Rooms 4 & 6 Swimming
Swimming
will be on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Room 4: 11 – 11:30 and Room 6:
11:30 – 12:00. Unfortunately with
such short notice we have been unable to plan other activities around the

other day than the Friday, which clashes every fortnight with their technology
programme at The Terrace.
Room 4: Tuesday 27th – those not on camp or attending the
Central Otago Cross Country will swim at 11am
along with the Room 6 students who are not at the Cross Country. You will walk
with Ms Moeke.
Friday 30th: Year 6 will swim at 11am –
Mrs Eastwood will arrange this.
For
the last 4 weeks of term we will swim Tuesday & Friday at 11am.
We
will travel by car leaving the church carpark at 10:45am and return to school
about 11:40am. If you are available to
assist with transport please complete the slip below. Thank you.
Room 6: Tuesday 27th
– as for Room 4.
Tuesdays 3, 10, 17, 24 September at 11:30am.
Fridays
30th August and 27th September at 11:30 am.
Room
6 will walk to and from the pool with Ms Moeke.
This
year we are pleased that the programme being offered will have components of
both the Swimsafe – learn to swim programme and the Riversafe programmes, and
that we have 10 lessons compared to the 5 in past years.
